What is longboard freeriding?
Longboard freeriding is an advanced type of longboarding where the rider uses techniques including slides, drifts, spins, and other tricks to ride down hills. Freeriding is often confused with downhill longboarding because of their similarities. While downhill longboarding focuses on speed during hill bombing, freeriding focuses on the technique and tricks.
The best freeride longboards are drop through longboards because of their lowered center of gravity and increased stability. A freeride longboard can be asymmetrical or symmetrical. It is important to use smaller wheels for freeride longboarding. The best wheels for freeride longboarding tend to have round lips and harder durometer, which allows for smoother sliding. The best bushings for freeriding are cone or barrel. We recommend 180mm trucks as well. Protective equipment like slide gloves, pads, and helmets are highly recommended too.
